When I think of the words “blues family” Jesse Black and his family come to mind. Years ago I met Jesse at a local blues venue. His guitar skills were outstanding , strong vocals and had one amazing personality. It was nice to meet such a young talented artist! A little further from home in Clarksdale Mississippi, Jesse attended The Pinetop Perkins Master Classes, where I had the awesome opportunity of listening to Jesse’s musicianship transform over the years. Every year is different, the talent and chemistry among the students is an unforgettable experience. One of my personal favorite things about attending is watching the kids grow musically and their personalities and styles emerging into their musical creations. They all are different and Jesse’s style has always caught my attention. Jesse has a vast melting pot of musical influences which he humbly, but strongly connects to his audience with. When I heard that Jesse was releasing his debut album, “Lane Shift” I was excited!

“”Bound to Roam” is a song about not knowing where you want to be in life but knowing you aren’t there yet.”- Jesse Black
