The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded Milestone Contractors a $10.3 million contract to replace or resurface pavement on more than 12 miles of State Road 9 (Harrison Street in Shelbyville).
The road construction project will include:
- Full-depth pavement repairs from Broadway Street (State Road 44) in Shelbyville to the Bartholomew County line.
- Resurfacing asphalt pavement from Broadway Street to McKinley Street in Shelbyville.
- Applying a thin concrete overlay from McKinley Street to the Bartholomew County line.
- Replacing storm sewer, concrete curb and gutter, and sidewalk.
Construction will require closures of State Road 9. Local access will be maintained to all destinations. Work will be completed in sections to balance safety, mobility and efficiency.
Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2018 and the road is expected to be open to traffic before the end of the year. Specific details about the construction schedule, road closure locations, and detour routes will be announced in the near future.
