Driver injured as car overturns on Shelbyville street Wednesday

Shelbyville police, fire and medical personnel were dispatched to an accident with injury on South Harrison Street at McKinley Street Wednesday afternoon.

Shelbyville Police arrived to find the driver sitting on the sidewalk near the overturned vehicle. The driver, Kratt Brown, 21, of Washington, Indiana, was found to be hearing impaired, but the officer was able to communicate with Brown and understand that he stated the brakes on the 2011 Buick Lucerne failed.  The vehicle hit a guide wire and overturned.

Brown did not have insurance.

A witness told police that it appeared the car made the turn from South Harrison to McKinley at a speed higher than normal for such a turn.  The witness also reported that the driver’s door was open as if Brown was trying to jump from the vehicle.

The vehicle hit a guide wire and overturned.

Brown was transported for treatment of facial injuries.
