Shelbyville firemen quickly put out fire in new school
A fire in Shelbyville damaged the upstairs of a block building at East Washington and North Noble Tuesday afternoon. The building is the site of a newly developed private school.
Blue River Investment Group owns the building and has offices inside. Owner Milan Albright says a new school was also ready to call the office home. Shelbyville Christian Academy, Incorporated was scheduled to start classes Wednesday.
The fire was contained to the upstairs. Albright says they hope damage could be minimal to the area they were still renovating in the upstairs. He says the fire could be related to power being turned on to the building that afternoon. Power was off up until shortly before the fire. The fire remains under investigation by the Shelbyville Fire Department.
A parent orientation was scheduled for the school this evening. It's unclear how it will affect the school's planned opening.
